Da Nang Homeschool Community Guidelines

Effective 2026 | maiabundant.com/danang-homeschool-community

Welcome

The Da Nang Homeschool Community (DNHS) is a private, participation-based community for families choosing to build an intentional life and education in Da Nang, Vietnam. We are not a drop-in program or a service — we are a community built on consistency, connection, and shared values. These guidelines exist to protect that culture and make sure every family, volunteer, and facilitator knows what to expect when they join us.

Our Values

Children first. Every decision we make centers on what is best for the kids in our community.

Show up. Consistency matters. We commit to the people and activities we say yes to.

Respect everyone. We welcome different cultures, backgrounds, languages, and learning approaches without judgment.

Community over convenience. We contribute, we help, and we lift each other — this space belongs to all of us.

Who These Guidelines Apply To

Members — enrolled families with active DNHS membership.

Volunteers — community members who contribute time and skills to run free activities.

Facilitators — independent educators who run paid workshops within the community.

All three are expected to uphold these guidelines at all DNHS events and in all DNHS communication channels.

How We Show Up

• Communicate with kindness — to children and adults alike

• Disagreements are handled privately and respectfully, not in group chats

• Keep screens and phones away during activities unless needed for learning

• Do not photograph or film other people’s children without their parent’s permission

• English is our primary language but all languages are welcome — never make someone feel excluded for how they communicate

Children & Supervision

DNHS is a parent-supported community. Parents and guardians are responsible for their own children at all times during events. If a child needs support, redirection, or care — that is the parent’s responsibility, not the facilitator’s or volunteer’s.

Please be present, aware, and involved. This is part of what makes our community work.

Workshops & Events

DNHS runs three types of activities:

  1. Free Community Events

  2. Organized by DNHS. No cost to attend. Just show up.

  3. Volunteer-Led Workshops

Run by community members giving their time for free. If supplies are needed, the volunteer will request funding from DNHS first. If funds are unavailable, the supply cost will be split transparently among attending families — always communicated before the event, never collected on the day as a surprise. Families may also be asked to bring specific materials listed in advance.

Paid Facilitator Workshops

Run by independent facilitators with their own fees. These are always announced in advance with clear pricing. Fees go directly to the facilitator. DNHS takes a small community contribution from each paid workshop. Full expectations for facilitators are outlined in a separate Facilitator Agreement.

Volunteer Recognition

Volunteers are the heart of this community. As a thank-you for your time and contribution, DNHS runs a points system:

• Earn points for every workshop or activity you volunteer for

• Points accumulate toward a free yearly DNHS membership

• Supply costs you cover out of pocket are eligible for reimbursement from DNHS funds when available

More details on how points are tracked will be shared in the Volunteer Policy.

If Something Goes Wrong

We handle issues with care and directness — not publicly, not in group chats.

1. Friendly reminder — a simple private message for first-time issues

2. Direct conversation — a one-on-one with the DNHS coordinator to address the concern

3. Removal — repeated or serious violations result in removal from the community without refund

DNHS reserves the right to remove any member, volunteer, or facilitator whose behavior puts children, families, or the community culture at risk.

Acknowledgment

By joining the Da Nang Homeschool Community, I confirm that I have read and agree to uphold these Community Guidelines. I understand that continued membership depends on honoring these standards.
